Stretching my legs in the realm of interior/architectural photography.
I have been wanting to get a start in the world of real estate/interior/architectural photography.
But as with many things, not many places want to take a chance on someone who has zero experience.
Somehow, I was lucky enough to be contracted by someone who works for Marriott to provide photos of a new hotel they just finished constructing in Downtown Orlando.
While I was extremely nervous, the contact I had made it known that basically I was providing something more along the lines of a “proof of concept” seeing as how they still had construction going on and had JUST received the furniture.
I felt an immense amount of pressure because I had never had the chance to build my skills in interior settings, and had truly no idea where to start or what to do.
The first day we experienced a cold front that gave me a super challenging lighting situation to adapt around.
Luckily the second day, I had perfect weather, and it really helped me highlight how gorgeous the interior and exterior features of this hotel were.
One of the things I was most worried about was the use of an external flash.
As I said, I had no real experience shooting interiors. So it was definitely challenging, but I think the results were pretty great.
By maneuvering within the internal settings of my a7sii, I was able to achieve all of these photos with very little editing. 93% of these images were all done using basic manipulation of the settings, internal HDR, and some creativity within the environment. I only needed my external flash for about 3 settings total.
