Expressing my abilities, and gaining trust on a new team.
A couple weeks ago, I had the opportunity to work on a corporate shoot for a big tech company.
A photographer by the name of Ben Rollins stumbled upon my website and reached out to me to help grip on this shoot. I was pretty shocked to hear that he had found me from a simple google search.
With my experience lying more in the video production wheelhouse, I ended up working alongside a DP by the name of John Song, while I brought my friend Tom Cantwell (a very experienced film photographer) on to help Ben with the photography focused portion of the shoot. Ben was providing headshots for the company, while we were tasked with basic interviews and B-roll coverage of speeches and presentations.
While I was tasked as a grip, and BTS photographer. The shoot schedule became a bit chaotic, and to make the most of our time, and get the proper coverage. I was entrusted in camera operating and providing B-roll. It was my first time operating a Black Magic cinema camera on the interviews, and running around with a Sony a7siii for the B-roll work.
This was without a doubt my favorite shoot I have had the opportunity to work on. The team was great, and we truly made some magic happen to meet the demands of the schedule and overcame every obstacle thrown at us. All while being lucky enough to make some friends with truly incredible talent and creative abilities.
